St Clair Golf Club Weekly Wrap

24th July 2025

Men's Club Captain Report

Dear Members,

St Clair golfer on the PGA Tour! Thomas Campbell is playing in this week’s PGA Tour 3M Open. This is his first start on the PGA Tour and gets his start as PGA Section Champion/Player of the year. We wish Thomas the best of luck. You can follow Thomas by clicking on this face book link. Facebook

Last week we played the winter Ambrose. Winners on Nett 5clicking on this face book link. 6 Frankie Elisara, Marty Banks, Andrew Pauling and John Macdade. Congrats guys.

This week we play an Irish stableford. Scoring as follows: normal Stableford score counts for holes 1 to 6. The Stableford score for holes 7 to 12 are multiplied by 2, and the Stableford scores for holes 13 to 18 are multiplied by 3. Remember if you tee off on the tenth your first 3 holes are multiplied by 2.

We will have a prize for best dressed (Irish), up for grabs will be a $50 Vault 21 voucher so get your green on!

Pennants: Presidents had a half on Sunday against 12 Oaks at Island Park. Nice work team.

A special birthday this week. Graeme Harford celebrates his 90th this week. As many of you know Graeme continues to be our handicapper and every Saturday sorts all the results and payouts. Make sure you wish him a happy birthday.

Spare a thought for our green keeping team at St Clair. I was watching the open this last week and they mentioned they have a normal greens staff of 30 but they bump it up to 50 for the tournament. We have 3!

Regards

Course Convenor - Expressions of Interest

We’re currently on the lookout for a new Course Convenor to join the team at St Clair Golf Club. Sadly, we’ve had to say goodbye to Mark in this role due to circumstances beyond his control, and we thank him for the time and energy he contributed to the club.

The Course Convenor is a volunteer position that plays a key part in supporting our Course Superintendent and ensuring the continued excellence of our course. If you’re passionate about golf, enjoy being hands-on, and want to contribute to the ongoing development and presentation of the course, we’d love to hear from you. It’s a great opportunity to be involved behind the scenes and make a real impact at your club.

Attached is a job description outlining the key responsibilities and expectations.  If you are interested please send your Expression of Interest to manager@stclairgolf.co.nz

Thank You to Our Generous Funders -
w
e have the new rough mower on course

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Otago Community Trust, Grassroots Trust, The Lion Foundation, and NZ Community Trust for their generous contributions toward our recent grant applications.

Without your support, replacing our mower would have been a significant challenge.

MTF Machinery Tournament

CALL FOR SUPPORT

We hope you’re keeping well as we head into the heart of winter.

Preparations are underway for our MTF Machinery Tournament, happening on Friday, 5th September 2025. This is a low-cost entry event designed to encourage strong participation from our St Clair members — and while we don’t have traditional tee sponsors, we’d love your support in other ways.

We’re currently seeking raffle and auction items to help make the day a success. Vouchers, products, branded items, or anything you’re happy to contribute are always warmly received and help create a great tournament experience.

In return, all supporters will be acknowledged and thanked in the clubrooms on the day, with your generosity clearly recognised.

If you’re able to help or would like to find out more, please get in touch with the office or ermail  General@stclairgolf.co.nz

Thanks in advance — your support really does make a difference!

News from Patrick at the Pro Shop

On Course

Although the course isn’t as busy this year please make sure to book a tee time and check in to the pro shop before you head to the first tee. This helps staff maximise play on course and helps insure we know who is on course. Good Golfing!
