Course Report
The course has started to dry out nicely, and with the warmer weather the grass is beginning to grow again. Our focus this week has been on mowing fairways and tees, as well as some important repair work.
7th Green
We are pleased to report that the repairs on the 7th green have now been completed, and we are very happy with the result. Please be patient as the new turf establishes — it takes around six months for it to fully bed in and blend with the rest of the green. In the meantime, we will be carrying out regular sanding and rolling to keep it smooth. (photos below)
For now, the green will remain protected with shade cloth. Walking on the turf is fine, but please do not play shots from this area. It will be marked as GUR until further notice.
13th & 18th Greens
This week we are beginning drainage work on the 13th and 18th greens to address the flooding issues that occur after heavy rain. These repairs will make a big difference heading into spring.
Cup Depths
We’ve had some feedback regarding the depth of the cups. The team has double-checked all our hole-cutting equipment and confirmed everything is set within the official rules of golf. While we cut over 2,000 cups a year, it’s possible that a small handful may not be 100% perfect. Added to that, cups can change slightly once walked on by players. Rest assured we are continuing to monitor this closely.
Volunteers
With spring just around the corner, we look forward to welcoming Alistair back to the team as a volunteer. If any other members are keen to lend a hand over the spring/summer months, we would love to hear from you — there’s always plenty to do around the course.
