x

Last week we played the Platinum Homes Club captains mug medal in tricky conditions. Kevin Mckendrick won the mug with a net 69. Best gross was Sam Ree on count back from Patrick.

xWe also played the final round of the Lucifer trophy. This is a best 2 out of 3 nett rounds with Marty Banks wining on 142 on count back from Frankie Elisara.

Shootout: No change at the top of the order for the JW Smeaton shootout. We have 8 rounds to go.
Watch out for Calcutta tickets. These will be on sale from next week.

This week we play the third round of the Eureka Paterson & Corstorphine cups and a Par for the rest of the field.

More success for our Juniors: Last weekend we had several of our St Clair elite golfers play in the Wanaka ANZ open. Connor Howes was second in the Gross and Jack Crashley second in division 2 nett.

Congratulations to the following juniors who have been selected to represent Otago at the Junior Boys Inter-Provincials to be held at Cambridge golf club September 30th - October 3rd.:
Connor Howes, Will Summers, Albie Reed and Jack Crashley (Reserve)

 On Course

We’re pleased to share the latest from around the course this week.

 Machinery Fundraising Tournament
On Friday we held our annual machinery fundraising tournament, and what a success it was! Even with a bit of blustery weather, the course played beautifully and everyone who joined in had a great day. A huge thank you to all who supported and contributed – your efforts truly make a difference.

 8th Tee Sign
You may have noticed a small change at the 8th tee. The sign now faces outward towards the path, making it easier for all golfers to see, not just those on the white tees. It’s a simple adjustment, but one that improves visibility for everyone.

 Irrigation System
We’re also preparing for the fertilising and watering season. While our irrigation system is aging and requires the odd repair, it is still operating well. Issues that do arise – such as wiring or pipe joins – are quickly dealt with and are very much part of maintaining an older system. Although we’ve explored options for a full replacement, the cost remains beyond reach for now.

 Join Us for Smoko
Finally, we’d love to invite any members to join the greenstaff for a smoko and a chat. We recently did this and found it a great way to share what goes into looking after the course, while also hearing feedback from members. We’re usually around most days and would be glad to see you.

Subscriptions – Membership Update

At the upcoming AGM on Wednesday, 24 September, subscriptions for the coming year will be discussed and confirmed. As many of you will know, membership subscriptions are set annually at the AGM.

Because of this timing, monthly subscription payments for those whose memberships roll over in September will be slightly delayed. We will process these within a couple of days following the AGM, with the 20th of the month run completed no later than 26 September.

Thank you for your understanding.

Progress Update – Clubrooms Refresh

We’re so pleased to finally see great progress taking shape! This week the cladding came off, and while a little more rot was uncovered than expected, it has now been fully repaired and the new window installed.

Over the coming week, painters will be onsite to repaint the entire frontage, as well as complete the touch-ups inside. Perfect timing as we freshen up the clubrooms for Spring!

Please continue to take care around the scaffolding, which will remain in place for another week.

A big thank you to everyone for your patience while these improvements are underway.
