Course Convenor report

Course conditions – The course is in amazing condition considering the weather it has had to endure over the recent weeks. We were almost back to winter conditions. It appears we have lost up to 12 trees. Some of our very mature trees have been ripped out of the ground. An arborist will be making these trees safe so that they can be eventually removed.  Debris has again been deposited on most of the course.

Volunteers - A big thankyou to the many volunteers who helped with the initial clean-up last week, which allowed the course to open. Without your help I doubt we would have had Saturday play.

Upcoming work – Subject to the weather, the greens will be sanded and fertilizer applied in the coming week. Usual mowing will be carried out. The practice fairway has been sprayed for weeds.

Course Review – Sometimes it needs an independent eye to tell you just how good your course is. Tom Dryden did this last week on his NZ Golf Course Reviews Facebook page. Here is part of his review.
‘Not sure what else to say other than this course is STUNNING, I wasn’t sure what to expect with a course being on top of a hill, but each and every hole had enough to keep you interested. Par 3’s predominantly all carry across valleys/dips, par 4’s with incredible views to distract you, and par 5’s just short enough to tease you to go for it in two.
Green fees were $70, which I thought was very reasonable for the condition the course was in, fairways super pure to hit off, greens were the perfect speed,’

Chris and his staff should be congratulated for the way they are presenting our course under such trying conditions.
Please remember to give way to our greens staff on the course.

Members can contact me with feedback on my dedicated club email address at convenor@stclairgolf.co.nz.
 Play well,
Neil Turner

Corporate Days & Functions

We’re heading into our busy season with Christmas just around the corner, and the Club is already buzzing with corporate days and festive functions.

We’re doing our best to ensure the upstairs Clubrooms remain available for members each Saturday. At this stage, the only unavailable dates are Saturday 8th November and Saturday 22nd November, which are booked for Club-run Christmas functions and serve as important fundraisers for St Clair Golf Club.

We really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work to balance our events schedule and keep disruptions to a minimum during this busy period.
