Men's Club Captain Report

Dear Members

Last week we played Brian Townley memorial stableford. Congratulations to Tom Garforth who won on CB from Jed Adamson with 42Pts.

We also played the JW Smeaton shootout final in awful conditions. Well done to all who braved playing and the spectators.
Congratulations to Fulton Henry who defeated Frankie Elisara on the last hole. Great effort and top qualifier to boot. Special thanks to Appie for controlling proceedings.

The JW Smeaton shootout begins again this week. Also, this week we play the Doug Cassels single par.

To round the year out the 29th we play the last round of the four seasons Stableford and a reminder it’s the best three rounds so it’s anyone’s to win. The last week of club golf is the 6th of December which will be the Platinum homes club captains’ mug and the final round of the Ron Johnston memorial.

The 13th of December sees Patrick take over proceedings kicking things off with his hamper day.

Otago Champion of Champions Winners

Our team for Champion of Champions was made up of Susan Greig, Chris Chambers and Jocelyn Livesey and they managed to make the most of the home course advantage by taking it out. Chris also won the Best Gross in the Bronze Champion division. Well done team, this is no easy feat and you've done the club very proud.

This weekend
We have 3 women who have been selected to represent Coastal in the Coastal vs Country this Sunday at Alexandra. Well done and best of luck to Kim Fraser, Susan Greig and Sandy Graham.

Board Report - Update on recent wind damage – 27th October

Following the severe wind damage on 27th October, we are once again working with our insurance company to progress the necessary repairs — not an ideal situation, but one we are pushing through.
As many of you will have seen, there is significant damage across the course, including the complete destruction of the toilets on the 10th, missing spouting from both the greenkeepers’ shed and the clubhouse, cladding torn from the clubhouse, an upstairs window blown in, and multiple fences destroyed.
One of our biggest challenges at the moment is clearing the fallen trees, particularly those blocking fairways. While good progress has been made, the clean-up is time-consuming and our greenkeepers are still needing to prioritise their day-to-day tasks.
We are currently gathering quotes for the various repairs, and once approved, we hope to move forward quickly with restoration work.
We are also looking into bringing students on board to help pick up the vast amount of debris across the course. As always, any volunteer time from members is greatly appreciated — this remains one of the most pressing tasks. Thank you for your continued patience and support.

Corporate Days & Functions

We’re heading into our busy season with Christmas just around the corner, and the Club is already buzzing with corporate days and festive functions.

We’re doing our best to ensure the upstairs Clubrooms remain available for members each Saturday. At this stage, the only unavailable date is Saturday 22nd November, which is booked for a Club-run Christmas function and serves as an important fundraiser for St Clair Golf Club.

We really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work to balance our events schedule and keep disruptions to a minimum during this busy period.
