Club Champs:This week its club champs qualifying. This is the club’s premier competition so get involved.
To clarify you have two dates available, this week 17th and the 31st of Jan. You need to choose your date. e.g.: You can play this week and choose not to qualify and then use the 31st as your qualifying round.
We have set up dot golf so when you enter your details to print your card it will have an option to use the is Saturday as a qualifying round. The choice is yours. We will do the club champs draw Monday 2nd Feb as the first round is on14th Feb.

Pennants. Yes, it’s that time of the year again. The team sheets are on the notice board in the men’s changing rooms. Please enter your names on the sheets. It’s a great way to play all the other Dunedin courses and represent your club.

Members can you help? I am still looking for help with starting duties particularly in the mornings. Let me know if you can help.

Can you help as a sponsor? We have several competitions we run throughout the year. It’s a great opportunity to support the committee by sponsoring a Saturday comp or a trophy event. All the money we receive for sponsoring committee events goes into funding our competitions and directly benefits members. Costs are from $100.00. If you are interested, please let me know.

Club champs
- Your handicap as of your first qualifying day determines what division you'll be in.
A reminder of the divisions: Senior 0-18.4, Intermediate 18.5 - 25.5 and Junior 25.6 - 54.0.
- Please remember to write your name and qualifying score in the changing rooms so I know who wants to qualify.

- If there's anyone who can't make either of their normal qualifying days, let me know and I'm happy for you to play on the other competition day.

Regards
Hannah

Local rule changes

The committee has evaluated the relevance of blue, green and red marked areas. We have made some changes and added more pegs for clarity. Please be aware some areas have changed colours.

  • The area between the 11th  & 12th  holes is now marked with red pegs. This is now a Penalty Area.
  • 14th hole. From the 13th tee to the back of the green is now all Out of Bounds and clearly marked with white pegs.
  • 18th. The area immediately off the tee to the left will now be marked Out of Bounds.

Blue pegged areas now have more definition.
e.g. The left of the 9th hole has blue pegs, then is normal, then has another area of blue pegs further down. Previously it was all blue.

Reminder of rules regarding relief:

Blue pegs (Abnormal ground conditions/GUR) - play it as it lies OR take free relief
- drop within one club length of the nearest point of complete relief, no nearer the hole.
- if ball is lost, drop within 1 club length of estimated point of entry

Green pegs (Environmental area) - as above except you may not play it where it lies

Red pegs (Penalty area) Either:
- play it as it lies, or
- play again from where it was last played (Stroke and Distance, 1 penalty stroke), or
- drop within 2 club lengths of where it entered the penalty area, no nearer the hole  (1 penalty stroke)

White pegs (Out of Bounds) Either:
- play it again from where you last played it (Stroke and Distance, 1 penalty stroke), or
- local rule: may drop at edge of fairway, no nearer the pin.(2 penalty strokes),

Regards
