Men's Club Captain Report

Dear Members

Last week we played the second qualifying round for the Platinum Homes club champs and a net medal. Player of the day Jacob Grubb with a net 64.

We have found our qualifiers for the Platinum Homes club champs and the top qualifiers over the grades are as follows:

Senior Ings Cup: Albie Reed
Intermediate B.R.E.N Trophy: Greg Johnson
Junior Manning Cup: Mark Davis
Cardno Committee Cup: Hamish Macrae
Overall best nett for the field: Brian Mahar Trophy Jamie Murley
NB: Some of the qualifying results are done on count back.

The first round must be played on or before 14th Feb. The club champs is an afternoon competition but if both parties agree you are welcome to play your matches in the morning. Please advise the pro shop accordingly so we can sort the draw. Also, the games are played matchplay with no shots given. Please make sure the result of your match is written on the draw sheets in the men’s locker room.

This week we have the Platinum Homes club captains mug, Ron Johston Memorial.

Cross Country is back, register yourself or your team in the pro shop for Friday 20th March.

Dunedin Strokeplay. Feb 21st is the St Clair Dunedin Strokeplay. We have a Saturday division and a Saturday/Sunday division with blue and black tee options. Please support this event.

Pennants. Yes, it’s that time of the year again. The team sheets are on the notice board in the men’s changing rooms. Please enter your names on the sheets. It’s a great way to play all the other Dunedin course and represent your club.

Connor Howes just competed in the Canterbury Strokeplay and finished in 5th place. Nice work Connor.

Members can you help? I am still looking for help with starting duties particularly in the mornings. Let me know if you can help.

Volunteers needed for our trapping programme

As most Members will know, we have a trapping programme on our course.

Due to people leaving town we are in need of another 2 to 4 extra trappers. This is organised through a roster system and would require a duty every 4-6 weeks. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours each time and will require a bit of training for anybody wanting to join us in this very important and successful programme. We seem to be reasonably well on top of our pests as we now don't catch a lot but it would be a pity to let this slip.

If you are interested and would like to discuss your involvement please contact me.

Thank you
