Men's Club Captain Report

Dear Members,

Last week we played the Platinum Homes Club captain’s mug. Winning the mug for the day with nett 63 is Brayden Crombie.

Pennants: This week Senior A host the Otago Bombers on Saturday,

Templeton: The sheets are on the notice board in the men’s changing room. If you would like to play, please enter your name on the sheet.

Saturday's Competition is qualifying for the 4bbb knock out.
4bbb – two players play as partners, each playing their own ball. The best nett score by either player for each hole is recorded as the team score.
If you wish to qualify then please write Q on yours and your partners card and make sure your names are on each card.
If you do not wish to qualify then please write NQ on your card.
If you qualify then the knockout rounds are played as follows:

Matchplay. The lowest marker gives the shots. That player's handicap goes to zero and all other players' handicaps reduce the amount of the low marker. EG: if the low marker is on an 8 handicap, then that player goes to zero and all others reduce their handicaps by 8. Shots are then given according to the stroke holes on the card. If tied after 18 holes you then go to number 1 tee and continue until someone wins the hole. Shots given if applicable.
Round 1 April 18th
Round 2 on or before May 9th
Round 3 May 16th
Semi-final May 23rd
Final May 30th

Course Update

Here’s a snapshot of what’s been happening on the course over the past few months and what’s coming up:

Course Works (Last 3 Months)

  • Sanding programme is nearing completion, with approximately two applications remaining this season
  • Greens have been mini-tined (quarterly), with minimal disruption to members
  • Star weed has had its third spray and is now starting to die off
  • Fairways have been fertilised and are showing strong growth
  • Mowing remains at full capacity

Maintenance Notes

  • Our debris blower remote has been out of action for the past 5 weeks (awaiting parts), which has impacted clean-up efficiency

Coming Up / Priority Works

  • Tee aeration to be completed before winter
  • Drainage work across the course (including known problem areas like the carpark) to be actioned urgently ahead of winter
  • Arborist to be engaged to inspect trees and address any health & safety risks
  • Bunker drainage repairs to be undertaken over winter (scope to be determined)
  • Clean-up of the gully on 11th hole, with a digger scheduled to tidy the area

Thanks for your ongoing support — plenty happening behind the scenes to keep the course in great shape!

Meet the Team!

Please join us in welcoming our newest team members to St Clair Golf Club!

Chloe (pictured) joins us as our new Duty Manager, bringing a strong background in hospitality and a passion for delivering great café and beverage service. Be sure to say hello when you see her around the club!

We also have the lovely Lexi on board (currently away, so no photo just yet). Lexi comes with great experience, including time at a golf club in the North Island, so she brings plenty of knowledge to the team.

And soon joining us is Sarah-Jane, who will be stepping into a brand new cleaning role. As she gets up to speed, we appreciate your patience and support.

Make sure you give Chloe, Lexi, and Sarah-Jane a warm welcome when you see them!

Driving Range Alarm System

The driving range alarm system is currently being attended to. The alarm remote unit has been checked and removed for repair after the aerial was found to be broken, which allowed water to enter and flood the enclosure. The unit is currently being dried out and will be reinforced and weatherproofed before it is reinstalled. Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the issue.
